Default eros mk II vs. raw acoustics kits

has anyone had a chance to compare the sound of the eros with that of any of the raw acoustics kits out of vancouver, canada?
there is quite a following of the eros and the reviews of the ht3, ht8, and ra8, all sound good
too many options on what to build!

I can't comment on the Eros but I've see what Al Wooley at RAW does and have no hesitation recommending him.

Agree with Cal ...

And even better is the combo of Danny from GR with Al from RAW. I'm a big fan of the GR drivers, I have a house full of them ... along with tons of other drivers, so I have some basis for comparison. It almost seems impossible that the soft paper cone GR drivers can be as detailed as they are, but it's true.

I think my next build is going to be a set of RA8's. I've heard nothing but great things about the RAW ribbon tweets.

Thanks for all the comments guy's

We have made a line up of models that really touch ever person we think.(still a few new models yet coming)

The RA8 is a high effeicent design which really is a large 3 way design.
Over all the RA8 in small to mid sized rooms will not need a sub for music for most people.

This is were the HT3 or the HT8 go a few steps above the RA8 in some ways.
Really the HT3,HT8 as well as the Apex II are speakers for most people who want a speaker with no sub needed.

Not that they can not use a sub with the Ht3,HT8 or the Apex II but the sub needs to be able to crossover around 30hz to match well with the HT3,HT8 or the Apex II.

The HT3,HT8 are both 3 ways were the Apex II is a 4 way design.

Hope this may point you in a direction you like

Check out the RAW forum over on audiocircle.com, Al has posted all kinds of data showing the excellent vertical dispertion of their ribbon.

Yes I agree with long ribbon tweeters. The longer the ribbon the more of loss off axis VERTICAL from the ribbon.
Here is a few graphs of the HT3 vertical and horizontal.
Scaling is 5db.

Below
Off axis horizontal measurements are red (on axis) and orange, yellow, green and blue are 10, 20, 30, and 40 degrees off axis.Scale readings is in 5db increments notice the 40 degree off axis at 20k, the tweeter is down 4db.

Now the vertical off axis

Once you get into the farfield they act pretty much like a point source, and are way better than a dome (IMHO)
