I just found these 2 3" drivers and was wondering if anybody has used them or has information on their frequency response beyond parts express's info.
I did not find them on Hi-Vi's site(only the A2S is listed in this series) and google turns up little info. HI-VI A3N SHIELDED ALUMINUM DRIVER PAIR HI-VI A3SII SHIELDED ALUMINUM DRIVER PAIR this mobile thread mentions them. |

The efficiency of these is trypical of the class, the Fostex FE8x drivers probably being the most efficient. dave

I find at close to 85 db they are pretty typical spl, more than loud enough for a mid size room, if your families health is important and you dont want them to go deaf over the next few years, a wise choice.

A Line Array is one way to combat the inefficiency and these may well be suited to that purpose.

The fact that the line arrays i have heard -- with the exception of my acoustat 1+1s -- have not been very impressive hasn't helped at all either. dave

I was fortunate enough to get the spec sheets from Chris F at parts express.
The A3N driver actually suites my needs better. I was looking for 100-150Hz in a 3" to above 4K hz I already own the Tang Band W3 593S 3" driver 264-809. These are a 3 way design on my pc using a pair of surplus 5.25"and will likely keep the same Dayton ND20FA-6 275-030 tweeters. I am tri amped so sensitivity is not of much concern. I also wanted something easy enough to reference to the common Hi-Vi B3S and B3N. |
