Hi all,
I want to design (and of course build) a DIY speaker for my living room. Because i cannot find any hi quality and low price speakers in Turkey.. I am looking for over two months various brands available in Turkey, but when i find a good sounding one then it is over price, and then when i find a good priced one it sounds like ****! I know thats a general problem but i want to solve that with my abilities. Anyway, i can spend until 500-600$ per pair just for drivers and crossovers but not more. I found some drivers in ELFA catalogue that, Visaton TIW200XS for bass (84dB, 20-7,5Khz, Qts=0.41, Qms=5,27, Qes=0,45) Visaton G50FFL (Dome midrange, 90dB, 400-10Khz) Visaton G20SC (Dome tweeter, 88dB, 1200-30Khz But i am not sure that they will work in harmony.. Because the mid is very loudy then the bass. But the basses performance is very impressive. It can down to 25Hz in a 35Hz tuned port 55Lt box. But as i mentioned i am not sure on them. So may you recommend me some drivers/crossovers will work harmonious to build a 100W min 3 way speaker system? Thanks a lot in advance..

Visaton makes some nice stuff, but I would reccomend going off of someone else's project. Even cheap speaker parts can result in impressive sound if used properly.
In the $500 range, there are many excellent projects out there - Zaphaudio.com has some very nice speakers in that price range, as do many other places. You should have more than enough money to get some really nice speakers indeed - heck, that should be enough for the Usher 2-ways kit from Parts Express, even including the shipping. If you want to try the "from-scratch" route, I would go for a pair of Usher woofers ($110 USD each) and Seas 27TBFC/G tweeters ($45 USD each). This leaves you plenty of left over money for crossovers and whatnot. (The Usher 8945P woofer is good up to 3khz, and the Seas 27TBFC/G tweeter is good even below 2khz.) |

Thank you spasticteapot (what does it mean?)
I am examining the projects on Zaphaudio.. There are many good projects. But as i can understand with my poor English, they dont sell the kits. So i have to buy the components seperated! Is it?
