I am using my AR speakers about 3 feet’s away from room corners and sick of “thin” mid-bass. This should be the famous 100 Hz dip. No, I don’t have SPL meter.
When I put the speakers close to the corners, bass becomes much better but overall sound becomes less clear, less transparent. As far as I know this is due to small front baffle and reflections from back and side walls. Now, what would happen if I put the speakers to the corners and cover the walls at the corners with reasonably wide bedding comfort foam, extending more than a yard both on the back and front wall? This stuff also has some corrugation on one side. Would it make considerable difference? Since I want to use wide sheets I don’t want to spend on acoustic material – they don’t “look” much different anyway. Any idea?? |

Greets!
Bedding foam is typically closed cell and you need open cell for best results. A better solution is to add baffle extensions to bridge any gaps, then stuff the cavities with polyfil, fiberglass insulation or similar. Placing a shelf top on it and mass loading it with a heavy, bushy/leafy plant further improves performance and helps with any SAF issues. GM
