I recently picked up a pair of non-functioning Alesis Monitor One speakers (for free). The woofer frames are covered with some sort of rubber ring so that the screws are not accessible. Before I go gouging them up, does anyone know if there's a "right" way to remove these? A pic of the speakers can be seen here.
Thanks for any advice. Reid |

Try heating gently with a hot air gun set on low. Oh, and protect the tweeter whist you work.

A lot of them. It may not work, but it's a good non-destructive start.

i have the same speaker but the latest model 'coz it a little bit different from your picture. The rubber ring felll down some time ago, and the glue that they are using is like a rubber cement or rubber glue. I think you can just removed it slowly by a flat screw driver.
