I have put up a few adds looking for a replacement P17RE/TV woofer for the one that a friend of mine did me the courtesy of blowing up. If any one has one or two or has any ideas of where to get one please email me.
blevesqu at gmail.com I have been having a hard time finding replacements so i am exploring my replacement options. The drivers are paired with Vifa D27SG-05 tweeters. I have been pretty happy with the sound of these speakers so i would like to get them up and running again. The basis of my question is what other drivers might work for me. From the seas lineup from the time period, a P17REX is the closest match and from my understanding is the same drive without shielding. Perhaps I can add my own shielding if I am able to remove it from the blown driver? Also there are a set of P17REs that i can get my hands on right now. they are not as close in spec. How adversely would this affect the sound? Also, same question for the P17REX's. Also as a note I am not terribly opposed to minor crossover modifications, especially to the inductors since I have access to a very precise LCR meter. I am also not opposed to new drivers or a different name brand as long as I dont have to completely redo the crossover and enclosure. Please forgive me for not figuring this all out on my own, but I am a extremely busy college student right now and I just want my speakers back! specs P17RE/TV http://www.seas.no/seas_line/woofers/H690.PDF P17REX http://www.seas.no/seas_line/woofers/H416.PDF P17RE http://www.seas.no/seas_line/woofers/H419.PDF below is the crossover in question.

Have you tried contacting Madisound? (I can't get on their site at the moment, so i don't know if the driver is still listed) Otherwise try and post a "wanted" ad in the madisound forum, someone might have a pair lying around idly

Try mailing Geenius (Tony Gee), as he's used these in one of his designs. I'm sure he would have a suggested replacement.
