Doing a little cleaning and way back in the closet I found a pair of AudioPulse 1035's made in the 80's that were my fathers. Naturally I pulled them out and started playing with them. They are a 3 way with a rather large tweeter, 4" midbass and 10" woofer. What's more interesting is the tweet has a 1st order at 13500Hz. The mid has a 3500Hz Xover. And as for the woofer, well it had none! It played full range!?! Soo, I played the speaker without the woofer connected out of curiosity and it sounded horrid. Very tinny sound and harsh with no detail. I found that the majority of the sound actually came from the woofer! Now the speaker all together sounds OK, but nothing special. I know these are cheap speakers but no xover on the low end? I looked deeper into the woofers and found the T/S parameters:
http://support.radioshack.com/suppor...oc62/62645.pdf I'm looking to maybe do "something" with these woofers instead of chucking them in the garbage. The specs show it would need a very large box tuned low, or maybe baffled? What would you guys do? Interested to hear your takes on these! |

Not a lot of options where to crossover with this method. It goes without saying that metal cone drivers need not apply. Doug |
