Default looking for diy 3-way

so i am looking for a high efficient speaker 3way with 90+ to drive a f2 (5watt) (i didnt do that till now but i want to, my current amp delivers 10w) (- didnt really find something trough search; maybe my ability to search isnt good :/ ). first i though of building a fostex horn (208e maybe) but somehow last week i heard some 3 way speaker sounding much better to my taste. my room is about 25 m^2. the problem as always is money . around 150€ per speaker is about the money i want to spend. so do you have any suggestions / is it possible for this kind of money?

thanks,
Patrick

ps: size isnt so important, got plenty of room =]

Sorry for the questions.

You Have a First Watt F2?
You are looking to use the F2 with a new set of speakers?
You were thinking about a single driver, but a three way caught your ear.
What did you find especially appealing about the 3 way?

I know that a First Watt F2 is a "Current amplifier"
This works well for single driver loudspeakers.
For a 2 way or 3 way to work with a current amplifier, the speaker requires a series crossover.
I do not know of a 3 way design that has a "pure" series crossover.
This would be a major DIY project to design this without reference designs.

My advice would be to find a single driver that you like.

Hope this helps;

Doug

Default hmmm

yap its a current amp. and well, i own an original zen right now, but i planed to build an f2 lateron (so no bought parts, could do other amp as well). - should have thought better about the speakers b4 i do amp :[

well i wanted to build some horn, as they dont sound great and work very well with currentsource. but i heard some 3 way systems, and i think that this would fit better my taste - dont know why, just liked it much more. and i dont need real deep bass. (though the one thats there should be presend =]) the problem is that the amp i own currently only delivers 10w- and well that i didnt made any thoughts about the xover - hmm.

maybe i should do some other amp than the f2. here the problems start again =] took me 1/2 a year to decide which amp i should do =[. but if it there's no way around i think i should do some other amp (easily said, decided hard - just too many out there) - just want to have 3way :/

thanks,
hope this clears something out

I love your amp choice.

I'd really hate to see you not build it.

Here is a article by "The One and Only" about Series Crossovers

If you are going to build a 3 way, I wold drive the tweeter and midrange with the f2, and do an active crossover to the woofer.

I am hoping that the community can provide you with some other options.

Whatever you decide, good luck.

Doug

Hmm... Can't find a series crossed 3-way. But you could go with a full-range series 2-way. Claimed 92.5dB 2.83V/m for the D'Appolito crossover.

Something to consider I suppose
