I'm thinking of using these in a 2-way - I just don't know what to do with them! The Vifa XT25 (the reccomended reference design tweeter) is out of my price range, and the Vifa D26-NC55 (which I've heard should work well) is out of stock.
I'm thinking a 20L ported box (gives a F3 of about 45hz); the Poly 6.5 has low THD to 3khz or so, meaning that (I'd think) almost any tweeter could be used. http://zaphaudio.com/6.5test/ Any suggestions? The BG Neo3 is nice, but I'm guessing it's going to be tricky to use. I'm getting my (used) copy of SoundEasy in the mail in a few days, so that might help. |

Can you afford the Seas 27DFC or 27TBFCG? They're excellent tweeters, and can cross nice and low. I bet that you'd be able to execute a 2nd order crossover with one of those, thereby saving money on crossover parts.

The AA 6.5" with a seas 27TDFC would be a classic case for using a simple 3 or 4 component series x-o. One coil, one cap, and a couple of resistors.

XT25, I think is ok, but kind of a difficult "beast" to tame
You might have more luck with XT19 - its a real "softie" and only 40USD, but I would cross it pretty high Or a Vifa TC26 at around 20USD looks nice |

I'm considering a pair of lightly use BG Neo3's. Goodness knows how I'll manage the crossover, but they're supposed to be fine tweeters, and I'll be using these 'till I have my own apartment. (My wacky Apogee ribbon hybrids are too big for a dorm room, and honestly, I'd rahter keep 'em in storage than risk a drunken roomate ruining them.) |

I second the seas 27TDFC, easy to cross, maybe if you pair it with a 6$ waveguide like zaph did, you REALLY only need a cap to cross it, and it's an all done crossover because you can get the curves on zaph's site, you just have to work the AA, wich may be very simple, maybe a coil will be enough.
