Default Part Express drivers to the u.k.?

What is the deal when ordering from partsexpress to a u.k. address?

Has anyone done that and what was it liek in terms of shipping costs, there drivers are so so much cheaper than anything i can get here and the range is better as well. I am staring off in this and dont want to spend loads on drive units for testing which i may not use. Also all the good stuff and zaph audio seems to use either parts express or madisound.

Any experiences ?

Phil

I had wondered about ordering from the States as Tangband drivers are a fraction of the price from Germany !

What level of duty was charged ??

Andy

I think it's about 15%. You can find out on Customs & Excise website. There is a slight chance they may just let it through but don't count on it.

OK, so there will be vat and extra courrier charge as well as the extra shipping from PE. Seem liek it might cost quite a lot to get those $17 woofers over here!!

What drivers have you got for (possible) sale?

Default Duty is 2%

Hi Guys

I have just been on to the HMRC advice line and obtained a Commodity code for general electronics spares eg speakers, chassis, caps etc...

Commodity code = 8518900099

If this is on the outside of the packet, it should attract duty at 2%

plus VAT ( calculated on price, carriage and insurance )

Not too bad, eh?

Andy

I have ordered drivers from Partsexpress before, including shipping and taxes (on the shipping as well remember), it usually works out a the same price in £££ what you pay for the drivers in $$$!

Don't forget the Parts Express minimum order of $50.

A an example :- Qty 4 TangBand W3-593S drivers @ $14 each

Postage and insurance = $ 65

Total = $ 121
Duty = $ 3
VAT = $ 22

Total = $146 / 1.95 = 74.87 or 18.71 each

Cheaper ??

Andy

Guys I hate to be the downer on this one and well maybe it doesn't apply to england. I thought that the new RoHS thing was an EU product, meaning you guys would need to comply as well. If so your importing plans may it a snag, if the stuff you order does not comply.
