Default KO130PL-SH, and T19SE - I've got the drivers, now help me make speakers!

Finally...I'm building a proper pair of speakers!

I've got four KO130PL-SH woofers (info unknown), six SKO-130-SH woofers coming in the mail, and some SR19DT (T19SE equivalent?) tweeters. I have almost no information on the drivers other than that the mid-woofers look excellent, the tweeters look decent, and that they were really, really, really cheap.

Tweeters:

Mid-woofers (KO130's):

Other mid woofers (SKO130's)

Any suggestions? I'd like to try building a pair of MTMs with the
KO130's - I've got four- and a bunch of 2-ways with the SKO130's for an industrial design project for school.

($25/pair for drivers is hard to argue with!)

Just want to make sure you're aware that the drivers in the links are not made by Peerless/Tymphany of Denmark. I believe they are from India.

I'm well aware of that.

The tweeters were a whopping $5 each, the KO130PL-SH drivers were $10 each, and the SKO130's were $7.50 each. I've got 8 tweeters, four KO130's, and 6 SKO130's en route. Total cost will be under $150 shipped for enough parts to make at least four pairs of speakers - that's not bad at all!

This is very inexpensive stuff - but I think I can get some speakers out of them that will sound pretty darn good regardless, and at that price, I can experiment!

I'm also considering trying to find some better tweeters for use in MTMs.

It all depends on what level of sound quality you're satisfied with. What I'm reading in your posts is that you were very excited about getting a great deal, and that the drivers "look excellent" - but there are lots of nice looking drivers out there with poor performance.

Not to be critical - I just hope you end up satisfied. This is for a school project anyway, and you're going to experiment, so you might as well use low-cost drivers and go from there. As far as design the only advice I can give you is to start with very simple crossover design - no sense in spending a lot of money on crossover parts if the drivers have sub-par performance.

But - do you have any way of measuring the drivers? If not it's going to be a guessing game and it's difficult to advise on design without data.

Several forum members in the Indian Peerless Driver T/S specs thread have given good reviews of these drivers. (It was either these or Silver Flute drivers, and honestly, these look to be of better quality - they have cast baskets!)

Sadly, I lack a woofer testing gizmo, but I do live near madisound. Odds are that someone around here does have one.

In the past Peerless drivers have been pretty good drivers. Maybe not the best but certainly better than the typical drivers in inexpensive OEM speakers.

Get the model numbers off the tweeters and do some googling and see if the parameters are posted anywhere. THey might be 3-4 year old drivers that are discontinued but where never used.

I'm pretty sure the tweeter is just a re-badged T19SE.

The woofers have been used in a few projects according to the Peerless India thread. I've e-mailed the people who own them to ask for data, but I've had no luck so far.

I actually think they're a bit ugly - the woofers are oil-slick shiny, and the tweeters don't look terribly interesting - they're generic dome tweeters. (I personally prefer big phase plugs and other such nifty things, if only cosmetically.)

When I say "look good", I've heard positive reviews of both of these drivers - admittedly, not with each other, but positive reviews nonetheless. The woofers also feature cast baskets, which is nice. and I bet that they're equal in performance to drivers at triple the cost (like the $17 Silver Flute 5.25" W14RC38)
