Are there any downsides of using foil inductors comparing to the round wire ones in a tweeter filter network? I mean, don’t they have some increased capacity to shunt a tweeter?
As far as I know, Mundorf Supreme caps use special non-inductive winding to reduce their inductance. Wouldn’t using foil instead of round wire increase the capacitance of the inductor? I have a pair of 14 AWG Air core foil inductors from some previous experiments which I unwound from 1.2 to 0.5 mH, which makes them applicable in a tweeter network only. Thank you in advanse, Misha |

They're not going to have any downsides (except cost) unless you need the higher DCR to get the appropriate filter characteristics. Whether they'll do you any perceivable good is a different question that can only be answered by experimentation.
