I'll post this here as well...
I have been looking around for information for a week or so, I guess this has become a full-blown project now??? I have two Heresys as mains, ca. 1980. I got them at the Goodwill for $8.00, but that is another story. They sounded so refreshing I couldn't give them up. So there they are, prominently upstairs. Also, I use a pair of subs stacked beneath them. I need a center channel. There is much talk about this online, but very little definitive or complete. Another Heresy will not work. What about a "Legend" KLF-C7? Is that even close to a match? Only considering the vocal range and above? Sensitivity? I am considering a DIY with a K-77, K-55, and a pro midwoofer(s) TBD. I have one successful full-range project under my belt, though the crossover was designed for me. Honestly, I don't care about the low-end extension of the center channel. I care about the vocals. And the level. I have found not very much low frequency content unique to the center anyway. What I want is something that matches the two horns. I have yet been unable to get the detailed specifications for the horns. Any ideas? With these, I'll go graciously and humbly to the PE site and ask for some guidance. As far as parts, I am looking for a single Heresy. Individual parts are costly. I may opt for a beat-up pair, just so that I can have some spare parts. The costs are about equal. Considering I got the mains at Goodwill, this stupid center will be an expensive proposition! Dang hobby! Looking for ideas... Thanks in advance. jocko |

What do you think of this with a K-77 and a K-55...
Eminence Alpha 8A: 8 Eminence Alpha-8A 290-401 8 58-5000 1.5 125 97 3.2 73 0.6 0.59 0.75 97 dB and 58 to 5000 Hz. I have used these in a pair of AR Rock Partner cabinets as PA speakers and monitors for the new synthesizer. They are not bad. Think this would work well-enough to fill out the K-55 and K-77? Is this a junker? The build seems similar to the woofer in the Heresy, except that is a 12.00 and goes lower and plays a little louder, I guess. I need ideas, please. jocko |

I think that info includes a typo. The efficiency of the Alpha 8A may be more like 93. ???.
