Great looking stand - makes the speaker look high end!

Thanks. I should have bought a few pairs when they were $40. It's still easier to mod a set of these than to build a curved speaker from scratch but at $80 not as much fun. Best part is the sound. Really surprised how great they sound and the volume I can get from them. The Dayton (Usher) tweeter is excellent and looks great too. Also a sub is not needed for most music. |

I went to pick up a pair of these after reading all the hype in DIY communities and low and behold... they're $100/pr at my local BB

The surge in demand for these must have alerted BB that they could charge a lot more for them.
I think Insignia is BB's entry level line - 2-channel receivers start at about $100, CD changers around $80, etc. So the speakers actually having decent sound is probably just an accident! Even at $100 they'd still make fairly reasonable curved cabinets for modification. Maybe you could drop one of the SEAS coaxials in 'em....

I bought two pairs in black and was going to take them back but I'll hold on to them now. Anyone want a pair for $50?

Polkymon - any chance I could take off your hands the guts you've removed from the B2111's?

I'd give them to you but ever since i gutted them I've been thinking of a custom enclosure for them. Something really wacked. If I change my mind I'd be glad to send them to you for free. Shipping too. |
