Can anyone tell me if the tear seen in the picture below would have any effect on sound at all? It doesnt go all the way through, and is very small.

Hi,
probably, The area in the immediate vicinity will have slightly modified characteristics, particularly stiffness. I think the loss in stiffness will bring in the resonance mode at high freuency just a touch earlier and once resonating will emit just a little more distortion. However, although painting the worst picture, I think the effect will be almost inaudible, and may be no worse than production tolerances, At low to mid frequencies, I think it will have no efffect.
