Still trying to get to grips with Solidworks. I've been playing around on and off for a couple of months now with mixed success. At this stage, its tough to be creative as even seemingly simple tasks are a struggle but I've been recreating parts of the LGT and using that as learning tool to better familiarise myself with the basics. Hopefully with enough practise I'll be able to start moving away from CorelDraw and design entirely within Solidworks. Its certainly a much better way of approaching a design.

Here's part of the baffle:

This is so real! With solid works, you could actually keep a record of all the 3D and 2D drawings as well

Yes it makes things pretty easy but you do have to invest time to create the initial models. After that you can bend, manipulate and measure every aspect until your happy. Its surprising how much a difference it makes being able to explore and visual the shapes and proportions in three dimensions.

And as you say, it does the usual 2d plan views too.

I like to work with Rhinoceros as CAD system.

See for example the baffle I have designed with Rhino for my speakers and the finally result.

Hi Shin. Solid Works is truly pain in the a.ss.
Are you designing your boxes in CAD and the CNC the parts? I am an old fashion woodworker but now I am starting to consider a CNC router for the shop.
Was a 5-axis machine or 3-axis used to cut parts?

Hey R-Carpenter,

No CNC for the baffles, I just used a tape measure and regular powertools.

CNC would be a great tool to have though.
