Hi bowdown. Try the Yellow Pages under fasteners. I suspect in Australia they are called something else. They guys at the local hardware stores just give you funny looks when asking about them.
A friendly furniture maker may point you in the right direction. Regards, Geoff |

Hey guys thanx for the replies. to audiofan, i tried searching on the net for t-nuts and pretty much anything else i can think of but i dont get any good hits. I will try the other places out that have been suggested. I will post back my findings if i find anything as quite a lot of guys on the forum are always looking for stuff like this. To Wilco, do you remember where they were at your Bunibgs store? i went in yesterday and had a look at the fastener section but could not find any there. Thanx for all your help guys. If anyone does find them though please let me know.
Cheers Bowdown

There is always the third way - Rawl Bolts come in M4 and M5 sizes (you may have a search to find them though, more common is the M6 and M8).
![]() Simply drill the hole for the bolt, smear a thin coat of epoxy on the outside of the bolt (it really wont need much at all, possibly a match head or two), insert the bolt, and expand the fixing (following the instructions). The nut is captive, as long as you followthe instructions for the correct diameter hole... A strong permenant fix, that is less likely to tear out than the barbed fittings (do remember to wet the wood if you use those, it helps the wood deform around the barbs on insert, instead of tearing, and provides enough moisture to re-swell the timber tightly onto the fixing...) Hope this gives some ideas... Alternatively, you could look at plasterboard (Gib) fixings - the in-hole expansion type... bound to be some of those near you Owen |
