I've seen a lot of views on the XT25. Half of them say it's more or less worthless due to the off axis response. Tha other half says it's a really good, not to say tha best, tweeter there is!
So wich is it? Good or bad? |

There are a few comments about it in Zaphs new design.
http://www.zaphaudio.com/ZD5.html He tilts the on axis response up a bit to compensate for the fast falling off-axis response. If you don't need a very low Xover it seems like a great tweeter for the money. |

What's wrong with the off axis response? The XT25 has an integrated waveguide. If anything, I would expect it to have SUPERIOR pattern control to a conventional dome.
Of course, the waveguide is only good for an octave or so. It's a very VERY small waveguide. :: PB :: |

Many people prefer wide dispersion though. So I guess it’s just a preference thing again.

1. A tweeter with wide bandwidth, that quickly collapses at one frequency. 2. A tweeter with wide bandwidth down low, that gradually narrows at high frequency. If I'm not mistaken, the xt25 was engineered to provide the latter. :: PB :: |

You cannot expect it to be the best there is, at this low cost
But its good enough to build a top world class speaker And I think all this debate about off axiss response is way overrated |

At correct preparation XT25 - very good driver.
But new Peerless HDS tweeter is even better And in the future, I plan to replace with them XT25.. |

Sorry, but is it a proven fact, or just a theory ?
