Hey guys,
I'm fairly new to building my own speakers, so i was just after a little help regarding the cabinet dimensions for the type of speakers i have. I purchased 2 Vifa P17WJ-00-08 woofers http://www.speakerbits.com/net/catal...aspx?ID=VF170B And 2 Vifa D27TG-45-06 tweeters http://www.speakerbits.com/net/catal...aspx?ID=VF027C I also have 50mm ports. Obviously im making 2-ways, but after a little research, I found my original dimensions for the box of 440x205x295mm may not me correct. Can anyone help me regarding the correct dimensions for these specific speakers? Cheers. |

You could download WinISD and play around with the tuning/box dims etc. The P17WJ is in the driver database. Jeff |

Thanks for the reply Jeff.
According to WinISD, it says I need a volume of 21.7 liters and a tuning frequency of 42.79Hz. It then gives me dimensions of 485x314x202mm (Height, Width, Depth), but that equals a volume of 30.7 liters. How is that so? Am i missing anything? If I stuck with the original box dimensions, would there be any change in sound compared to those given by WinISD? Cheers |

I always just use WinISD to tell me the volume I need then calculate the size from that myself. Seems to work, but remember the volume of the port is additional to the enclosure volume you tap in to WinISD.

I would like to start today, so would my original dimensions suffice?

Interesting...a super low SBB4 alignment gives a box 19 liters in volume with a 19 cm length port (50mm diameter). Optimum Golden Ratio box would be 43 cm x 27 cm x 17 cm.

Those numbers checked out on both AJDesigner and diysubwoofer.org spreadsheets...both free programs.
