Question How to read schematic

Hello,

I am trying to read the filter schematic for the B3S design on Zaph's site and want to make sure I have it right. I have never used an electrical schematic before. I have the components, can someone point me to a tutorial on how to read this?

Thank you,

Nathaniel

Hi Nathaniel:

I assume you are able to distinguish the components:

A rectangle indicates a resistor and its value follows a "R",
A double inverted "u" indicates a coil and its value follows a "L"
Two parallel vertical lines indicate a capacitor and its value follows a "C".

Series connection resembles the cars in a train.

You make a parallel connection when you connect together one side of all components and the same on the other side.

In the schematic L1 and R2 are connected in parallel, and also L4, R5 and C3. This doesn't means that all five components are in parallel. You make a parallel conection with L1 and R2 and another with L4, R5 and C3. You will get two arrangements of components in parallel.

Now you need to connect those arrangements in series with the woofer, as the cars in a train, as indicated in the schematic.

I hope this confirm what you made.

Cheers!

Hugo
