Default tweeter - How to attenuate or reduce efficiency?

How can I attenuate or reduce efficiency on a tweeter?
My tweeter is way too loud for the replacement drivers I got, and I'd love to subdue them a bit. I believe some arrangement with resistors may be possible, but I'm not sure what I'd be aiming for or what to do...

The easiest arrangement is an 'l-pad'. Madisound (www.madisound.com), parts express (www.partsexpress.com), solen (www.solen.ca) should have an option for you. Fostex sells a transformer based tweeter attenuator that I'd suspect to be better still, but it's more expensive. There would be a hookup diagram included with any of these.

For the resistor l-pad bit, try this section of Rod Elliots' passive crossover article.

good info,

in many cases a single resistor will do, but when keeping resistance low in the signalpath is of importance a series-parallel network is the choice...
