Hi all,
My NOS 9900 Revelators (not through any diyaudio member) just arrived the excitement was short lived though as it looks like one of the tweeters is leaking. Can I assume the ferrofluid has leaked and the tweeter is toast? Please see attached photo. Many thanks

As far as I know, there is no ferrofluid in the 9900 revelator.
(could be in the older line as you say it is NOS) Is it sticky? Remco Blankesteijn |

Yes they are NOS, so no idea how they old they are.
Also had a look around the web and can't find any mention of ferrofluid/oil etc. either but I couldn't think what else it could be. It doesn't fell sticky, more like light machine oil. Regards

Maybe something leaked onto the driver?? When I bought 9900's I specifically did not want ferrofluid and have never seen mention of a version with it.
Try comparing the impedance curve against the "good" one. |

On your suggestion, i decided to measure the Re and also discovered that one of the terminals on the 'good tweeter' is only making intermitant contact. Given there are obvious problems with both the tweeters I've decided to send them back - just not good enough for something that is supposed to be unused. Thanks all.

the 9700 and 9900 series have no ferrofluid (but the 9500 does)
