Default Peerless 8 inch SLS - usable or not....

Hi all.
I am slowly finishing my speaker project from zaohaudio.com, it is the L15RLY/P-27TFFC system, but in different enclosure (have pictures, when i find cableto camera, will post).I am considering extend the bottom a little bit.Lets say i can have 33L enclosure, and would like to use these Peerless drivers (2 each side):

Any suggestions? Thanx for replay

P.S.: the enclosure would have the same shape as the small system, and would be used as a stand aswell......

Exceuse me...........Mr. ZaphAudio...........

I have not used the SLS but Peerless in known for its excellent bass performance. I think two SLS 6,5" (or 8")will give you a good performance at a good price. A suggestion is to use an active filter => much better performance!!!

Also Linkwitz is using the 10" in the Pluto+ sub.

Ps You say 8" in the subject but the link is to the 6,5" SLS

oh....my error...it is 6.5" ofcourse. You see, the front baffle on the cabinet is only 195mm wide, so i can use only woofers/midwoofers in this size.It is only to extend the bottom.I cant acommodate 10" subwoofer, and to use 2 Peerless drivers in 65cm high enclosure will save me some space. It will also serve as a stand.

Thanx for replay.

Hi,

Active it is then, I hope you are making the top section sealed.

the 2 drivers you suggest at a total Vas of 24L are
not ideally suited to a 33L (internal volume) cabinet.

You could use 2 drivers either side in force cancelling mode.

Do you want sealed or reflexed for the sub section ?

What power goes to the main speakers ?

Using a sub amplifier or another amplifier or a HT amplifier ?

/sreten.

Hi sreten. My room is small, lets say 12-15 square meters, i have no experience with these drivers.Any sugestions appriciated. But i think it should be sealed, i am not a fan of boomy bass.I dont need it to go low as 35Hz.its only a support (and a thouht....).maybe i dont build them at all.......It depends on the sound if the small speakers.(I still have not find the camera cable )

The top section will be probably sealed, i have 33 liters of volume to play with for the bass section, so it can be anything in this range. Its no problem to seal it off to any volume.

The power to the speakers will not excede 50-60W, i like easy listening levels...

The amp is Marantz 7001 and the source is RPM 4 turntable and Marantz CD5001.And for the bass section i think rotels RA series power amp.
