Default benefits of tilting back floorstanders?

Hi
I am approaching the end of my floorstander build (Scanspeak 18W/4531 + D2904/7000) based upon an AOS design and crossover.
It is still possible to tilt the speakers back by say 5 degrees if I like, as I have included a laminated spacer between the speaker and its foot, which can be planed into an angle.
I have seen many designs that tilt backwards by 5-10 degrees. What is the benefit on this?
Could/should I do this with mine? There is no time dealy in my crossover.
TIA.
Michael

It's usually to to try and achieve some kind of time alignment between drivers.

There is a good time alignment discussion on here that went on for several pages if you want to search for it, I'll summarize what I think is key:
The more overlap in freq. response between drivers the more important the time alignment, ex. full range mid-woofers with a high passed tweeter. I listened to some new speakers I bought for a budget mtm (above config.) and was able to clearly hear ~1/4" mis-alignments. Not very scientific but the results were not subtle so I feel comfortable with the above generalization.
Whereas some users in the above mentioned post discussed studies where several cm were not noticeable with a 4th order LR network.

I recommend a switch and two completed towers next to each other, switch back and forth with one tower shimmed and one level and listen. I will bet that if you have a high order xover you wont hear any difference.
