Default Mission 761 info

Hei all,

A couple of years ago I found a pair of Mission 761 speakers in a flea market for 30 euros. They have been my main noise makers since. See attached photo. I think they sound great and will continue with them at least until I finish my Zaph all metal Seas project.

However I don't think they have the original tweeters. As you see from the photo there is an old screw hole below the tweater which itself looks out of place.

Google doesn't help find info on these although I did once find a photo of what claimed to be Mission 761 but looked totaly different. MTM in fact.

So any one know if these are real 761s and if so what was the original tweeter ?

Hi.
Mission have a bad habit of re-using their model numbers which can get a bit confusing.

Here's what your speakers once looked like. Found with google.

Wow, how did you find that. Any search I made including the word "Mission" returned a million hits on religious missions or corporate mission statements.

Anyone know if that is any normal tweeter I could still obtain or is there a close model to swap in there?

Sonusthree,

Your current tweeter looks like a Peerless KO10DT.

Hi Heater.
So at least there are other models available that may use your tweeter. Maybe some will come up on Ebay soon.
I often see Mission tweeters on Ebay in the UK but not this type. Others may fit but I think your idea of finding a high quality replacement makes sense maybe Vifa?. I don't know. Other pople may have a particular recomendation.

Mission 760i.

Hi there,

I have had Mission 762, wonderful loudspeaker. In still have Mission 762i (same speaker, but with other woofer with poly...cone) but the 762 with papercone woofer sounded much much better.

Both types share the same tweeter (but other than yours).

I do however have two small bns speakers with the same tweeter (one even has the brandname Mission on it, see pic).

More interesting may be that the other (exactly same tweeter) has the brandname Seas on it. It looks like an industrial (oem) type, on the sticker on the magnet it says 111030-3. I think that's the type number.

If you are interested I will sell them to you for little cash, I don't mind putting two vifa ht275 in there....

On the other hand it shouldn't be hard to find other good tweeters, or leave the peerless in there.

Thanks for the info guys.

v-bro, thankyou for your offer but I'm going to decline it. You see I pulled one tweter out this morning and I find that whoever put it there had to enlarge the hole in the panel for it. In a rather messy way. So think putting the original round tweets back is not possible without somehow filling the hole again. All in all to much bother whilst I'm still trying to get my Seas cabs together. And as I said they sound pretty good any way.
