Default Jordan JK92S/AC G2si/G2i Mini Monitor - Modified

I thought it might be interesting to show a set of speakers that I built using the Jordan Mini Monitor as a top end of a large floor standing speaker. The monitor is built right into the speaker and the bottom 2/3rds of the floor stander is utilized as a sub woofer. The speakers that I used were the two mini monitor drivers as noted in the subject line and the cross over is made for this mini monitor as indicated in Jim Griffith's design. The speaker itself is 42" tall, width is 8 1/2" and the length (depth) is 19 1/2". (outside measurement) The speakers are built with 3/4" MDF then clad with 3/4" pine. The sub woofers are 2 - Axtremis 6.8's powered by 300 watt Bash Amt with 2 - 2" vents x 8" long.

I'd like to thank Bob Reimer of Creative Sound Solutions for the parts and advice. Also, Al Wooley at Raw Acoustics for his advice on the sub woofer part of this speaker.

Here are some pictures to follow:

This is the top end of the speaker before finishing. Note: the mini monitor length of approx. 12" is separated by 8" of rear space which will be filled with sand before I placed the top on the speaker.

This is the speaker finished. It weighed in well over 100 lbs. It took two of us to carry it in the house! The speakers after about two weeks break in, sound absolutely wonderful with the bass that I always longed for. My surrounds for these speakers are Jordan Transmission line 13 liter. I also have an 88 liter sub woofer with two Axtremis 6.8 and an Apex amp which I use for anything below 40 hertz. Now I finally have my dream surround sound. Now I just need a good 60" plasma monitor to do justice to these speakers.

Default Name Correction

JVA,

Unless there is another Jordan with a ribbon designer around, it should be known that I'm Jim Griffin--not Jim Griffith.

Very nice speakers that you built. I hope that you like their sound.

The ledge above the tweeter should ideally be missing. Thankfully the ribbon has limited vertical dispersion so it creates less of a an edge difraction problem than with a dome source.

Default sorry Jim

Jim ,I sometimes spell the word [ if , wrong.
Salas
Your right I wouldn't have put a top on if it was a dome.
Al
There is no port for the top end. The bass ports ,2, are on the back

I think I speak for many ,thanks Jim for sharing your designs and insights
