One of the users of the Frequency Allocator found a way to use it with the new so called High Definition Audio codecs that come built in some motherboards.
These chips offer usually around 100dB S/N and can play up to 192kHz sampling rate. He wrote up the procedure on my forum and seems to be very happy with the results he got. Considering that such a motherboard with a processor costs less than many 8 channel ASIO cards alone this could be a very good way of getting into audio server and active crossover on a budget. I just saw an Asus motherboard with a Athlon64 3400 processor for $100.00 on newegg. It had the right audio codec on it. http://www.thuneau.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=72 Jan

Dear Jan,
On your homepage you give notice of a OS-X version of the frequency allocator. I'm very interested - can you say something? If not - are you aware of any other software-based x-over for Mac/OS-X? Best regards, Chris BTW: Tried to send you a PM to the e-mail address mentioned on your homepage - does not work. ''All of our processors run on Windows XP machines equipped with sound cards that have ASIO drivers. Apple Macintosh OS versions will follow soon. Please see the individual products pages for system requirements.'' |
