Just thought I would let everybody know about a situation that has happened several times -
On the BSS FDS 366 digital crossover - several home brew and kit amps have refused to run correctly. They have unlistenable large amounts of distortion
one time the problem was solved by putting 1 to 1 transformers in line.
It appears that the BSS unit needs transformers in-line or DC blocking caps on the amp inputs to block DC coming in on the inputs.
Many (most?/all?) factory amps will sloutions to block DC at the inputs, but it will likely not be the case with homebrew.
I am aware of similar problems with a DEQX.
Since this has caused some grief due to not understanding what was going on, I thought it a good idea to make a post about it.
Figured loudspeaker forum would be the correct place since that is where the digital crossover stuff is usually posted.
Regards
