Lightbulb Stand Mount 2-Way Low Distortion Monitor

I am looking for low distortion drivers to build a Sealed Stand Mount 2-Way Monitor. I prefer under-hung (short coil - long magnetic gap) drivers, as they are low in distortion. I am planning to crossover to the tweeter below or at 2kHz.

I have shortlisted the following drivers:

MidBass

AudioTechnology (Skaaning) C-Quenze 15 H 52 06 13 SD
( http://www.audiotechnology.dk/iz.asp?id=4|a|134||| )

Adire Audio Extremis 6.8

Tweeter

Morel Supreme 110

Seas Crescendo T29CF002 E0040

ScanSpeak D3004/660000

Which of these MidWoofers are better? Which of the Tweeters are better? Or are there any other drivers that you suggest?

Go to www.zaphaudio.com - look at his driver tests and designs - there should be a bunch of info there relevant to your questions. Several of his designs may suit your goals - he is particular to small-ish 2-way speakers.

These days I no longer suggest drivers on their own, since you could use anything, or nothing. Really, the most important part is the crossover. And if you don't have measurement equipment and/or crossover design experience you are just shooting in the dark.

Second, underhung or overhung voice coil doesn't guarantee lower distortion.

If you just want to experience, start with some low cost (<US$50/unit) drivers.

If you want to build an Uber-Speaker, follow a properly designed pair of loudspeakers.

Today I had a long listen again to my Zaph Audio L18/TBFCG speakers. I'm surprised how nice they sound. Not a hint of the so-called "metal" cone sound. Just an articulate and coherent sound. Smooth clean midrange, firm bass and lovely treble.

And to think these drivers cost just over 1/3 of my Scan-Speak 2-way...

It's all in the crossover...
