I have [had] a home recording studio with large home built speakers but temporarily in small apartment and large speakers will not fit.

Does anyone know a good kit or willing to share a private project plan that would be good for this. I dont mind if prioject includes a sub to get bottom end.... as long as they have reasonably truthfull sound and able to handle the crap that a studio can thow at them.

I have the skills to build a good speaker but not to calculate the acoustic/elctrical components.

Yes I have looked at the project database...looking for a recommendation.

Thanks in advance

Size Limit . nominal numbers 400mm high x 200mm wide x 300 deep..[approx]
Yes i can sit close but need to be able to put out a sustained 90dB spl at times.

Budget... without the enclosure id hope to get some decent components for under $1000 NZ..Oh and Im in NZ where thinds arent so available...but I'm happy buying from anywhere.

Probably Powered By a rotell 80 Whatt/8 ohm Amp. If the right project was available i would consider making speakers into powered monitors.

I did think of building a full range with a tangband...but the HF and LF would probably not be good enough..and once other components are added you maybee loose the benefit of a full range speaker.

Curtrent speakers are 75 Litre 2 way Towers with Vifa 8 inch and Vifa tweeter... tested in lab flat to 25Hz.

Can I suggest the Vifa P13/D27 project that's been kicking around on DIYAudio.

It's a simple 2 way 5.5l bass reflex design, using the Vifa P13WH-00-08 13cm polycone mid-woofer and D27TG-35-06 25mm dome tweeter.

See http://www.diyaudio.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=25590&highlight=vifa+p13 and http://www.diyaudio.com/wiki/index.php?page=rabbitz+has+added

I'm doing some for my study, with a simple series 6dB/octave crossover. They're a bit lacking in bass (F3=78Hz), but have a really nice midrange. I imagine with a sub they'd make a really good general purpose monitor. I'm not currently planning on building a sub for mine, as they suit the music I listen to (folk) quite well.

See http://www.littlefishbicycles.com/poweramp/Speakers.jpg for pics of mine (stll sans-veneer).

Cheers,

Suzy

I made some nice mini monitors with these drivers...

I used a 1.5mh L with a 8 Ohm resistor for BSC.

And I crossed over at aprox, 4800 hz with a 6.6 uf cap, and a .25mh L for the woofer.

I also padded the tweeter about 4db with resistors.

Cabinet is about 0.3 ft3 made with 12mm baltic birch sealed, they do go down to the 50's. never measured but nice bass.

Nice cheapo idea.

Out,
Robert
