Just came across a pair of KLH 802's for free. Cabinets are rubbish...are the drivers any good? The woofer seems to be relatively stiff poly or coated paper, the mid/tweet looks to be ~3" paper cone.
I have not hooked them up, so I thought I would post to see if anyone had heard them or maybe knew who the OEM for the drivers was. Worst case: garage speakers or a couple of ports and terminal cups for the bin. Regards, Aaron

Okay, so after a bit of hunting, it seems KLH is not worth their audiophile salt, as it were. At least not in recent history...maybe back in the day. So, garage speakers it is.

Hey Aaron-
I just registered here-and yesterday acquired a set of pristine KLH 802's at my local Goodwill store(Ca)-for $20/pair. THEY ARE AWESOME SOUNDING!! Full, rich, clear and POWERFUL!! Bass(NO Muddiness). The midrage is acoustically correct and STEADY, and the Tweeters are SHARP and consistent! Maybe you replaced the necessary part's for better sound? I Know you posted Last about this in Oct 2006- just thought I'd share my EXCELLENT exp. with them. P.S.> I ALSO found some smaller KLH-AV33-same place-$10/pair-They are EXCELLENT!! Take care, Mike A. |
