I've been listening to my Fostex F200A full range speakers
for a week or two now. For Music, the bass is fine. For home theater, it is not enough (of course). So here is dumb idea #9,724 : Sealed F200A (f3 of about 70 hz), with a Dayton Reference 12 incher (RSS315HF) for the bottom two octaves. Active crossover. Box based on Troels G.s "Poor Mans Strad" Heres a picture. Any comments? Insults and sneers are OK too, as I havent thought it through yet. This is really just a combination of 1) Not enough to do at work, and 2) Trying desperately to find a reason to buy two of those delicious looking subs! herm P.S. Those are ports on the bottom.

I have that same driver in PartsExpress 3 cu ft sealed boxes.
With Qts: .44 I'm thinking sealed sub box is the way to go. |

No input Herm (I have lots of dumb ideas too), but just wanted to say I'm happy to see a fellow San Diegan on the forum!

Qts = .44 ?!?!?!
Boy, you guys are right. Sealed makes sense. Daveis, do you boost at low freq or is room gain enough? The 3 foot box you use models to a beautiful .6 Qtc using Unibox. Or possibly linkwitz transform? Here's a link to my box inspiration: Poor Mans Strad sdclc126 - I moved here from Seattle about 20 months ago. Gotta love that sunshine! Is the weather EVER bad here? thanks for the input guys. herm |

I am using F200A with 45L sealed enclosures + Sealed Bass modules, Active XO at 80Hz.
In my case, I found it important to have steep High Pass XO for the F200A, since I like to play at high volume LageB |

The design reminds me a bit of the Ayon Dragon.
