Default Tweeter protection for software crossovers?

Im looking for a (transperent) solution to protect the tweeter when using software based crossovers other than using a cap on the tweeter. I heard it done with relay but wouldnt think a relay is quick enough? Perhaps a solid state relay?

Don't attempt to switch a speaker signal wit a solid-state relay. They are for AC power (usually mains) and not a quality speaker signal. Even the cheapest electrolytic would perform better !!!

What type of amp are you using ?

Charles,
Aksa 100W Nirvana Plus.

Thanks for the tip on the solid state relay's.

Might have to test a normal relay on some real cheap low power tweeters. If it works consistantly I spose its safe to assume that a higher power handling tweeter will survive.

Anyone using tweeter protection? Do tell.....

Doesn't this one use seperate NFB path for AC and DC ? If yes it would probably be possible to take NFB after the DC blocking cap. Maybe you can discuss this with Hugh.

I have used zener diodes. Two 9.1 volt wrapped and soldered in series with the color bands on the zeners oriented together, then soldered across the tweeter terminals.......respectfully......Omni
