Default The Mozambique

Just want to share some pics of the new bookshelf pair I completed today. This is my first time using ribbon tweeters, so it took over 2 weeks to fine tune the crossover, with a whole bunch of help from the guys on the PE forum. Vented system, crossed at 2,600Hz, low pass is a LR2, high pass is a LR4, and 3dB BSC. F3 is around 60Hz. 3/4" MDF through out, and veneered with African Mozambique paper-backed wood veneer. Wild patterns, don't you think? How does it sound? Beautiful. Very different than dome tweeters, so I'm starting to understand why some people find them mesmerizing.

Very nice work!

Was the design inspired by the RAV-1?

I see that your frequency response is compensating for even room power response more or less. Should be sounding fine. Did you take that into account or you ended up in this response shape by ear?

Hi Geek, this is my own design, since I don't know who makes the RAV-1. May be a subconscious thing, who knows...

Salas, I didn't even think about the room response to tell you the truth. I had an ugly -5dB dip at the crossover frequency when I had both the low and high passes crossed with a LR2. The dip didn't go away until I had the high pass crossed with a LR4, thus the resulting response plot. Sounds a lot better without the dip for sure.

Yeah, the "no screws" pics were taken when I just dropped the drivers into the recesses for testing. Good eyes, panomaniac!
