Pardon the newbie if this has been coverred, but I could use some help.
I would like to use a variable l-pad for a 6 ohm tweeter. I can find 8 ohm l-pads. I understand that a stereo 8 ohm l-pad can be wired in parallel for a 4 ohm load. But what would be the best approach for a 6 ohm tweeter? Thank you! Ed |

Hi,
an 8R L-pad should work OK with a 6R tweeter, though it depends on the exact crossover details. |

Thanks for the reply!
My intention was to use surplus JBL L100t3 crossovers I own, but bypassing the existing fixed lpads on the xovers, and using the variables. I'm going to have to rithink this, however, as using the 6 ohm tweeter would also require my making other changes to the crossover. I guess I will either select a different tweeter, or build the crossover from scratch. Thanks again! |

Hi,
On a simplistic level simply put 2R is series with the tweeter. But many 8 ohm tweeters measure ~ 6R DCR. |
