I have a pair of DCM Timeframe 700's. One of the vifa d19td-07 tweeters burnt a coil. So i need to replace it. Right now i put a focal tn-45 in just to get me going. I could only find info on d19td-05's and it says a x-over point of 3-5khz.
So Im looking for a good set of tweeters to replace these. That have a x-over point of 3-5khz I'm really looking to upgrade here. What should i look at? i saw some nice ribbon tweeters for 80 bucks a crack. i was also looking at focal's utopia tn-51/52. These DCM's have a 8" and 4". The 8" seems to be doing most of the work, as i can hardly hear anything coming out of the 4" How about buying a focal utopia 4"/tweeter set. and crossing the 8" over a little lower? What would you do? Or should i just sell them and buy a small set of Paradigm signatures on staff purchase for 800. Amp is a Bedini 25w class A and pre-amp is a counterpoint tube. I dont want anything loud, im just after a sweet sound with tight bass. I have a 50w amp i can use if i need to bi-amp |

Hi,
http://www.zaphaudio.com/tweetermishmash/ Use an L-pad arrangement to match levels and impedance of old tweeter. Don't mess about with the c/o or use the c/o with different mid drivers. |
