This is a really interesting topic! I have such limited understanding of it though.

How do you simulate these unity horns? How does the bandpass function come into play (some mention WinISD, I can't get results like this with it, 1 octave at best)? Who has actually built DIY horns?

I've seen William Cowans project with them and the results looked fantastic, but I have no idea about how to design anything of my own! PA applications seem great too.

I have a spare Dayton RS52 (380Hz fs) and a Monacor SPH-30X (2*105Hz/0.41 = 512)

You need to learn AkAbak to model them. Not too easy to learn, but I find it pretty easy now.

Take look at the avsforum. There is both a "Akabak for dummies thread" and a synergy horn in akabak thread in diy speaker sub forum.

That's great, I'll have to check that out. I have only just got the hang of the basics with Hornresp though, so it'll be quite a learning curve from here I think

Hello,

I've noticed that some people are still interesting in finding midranges for the unity. I have added a number of drivers to the spreadsheet provided by John (Patrick Bateman) including one FaitalPro driver that was closest to the score obtained by Tom Danley midrange. Any idea how to upload it?

@JLH

Hello, do you have any idea if akabak can also simulate an OS profile for the midrange part?

Thank you!

Akabak does not contain the OS profile, but there is nothing stopping you from approximating it using multiple concial sections.

Hi!
I got a reply from FBT Audio referring to the KT410!
Unfortunately they can't support us with the TSP of this speaker, cause the have replaced it with a new one called KM410.
What do you think about it? Would it be worth a try?

Close enough for me since the difference can be adjusted for in the XO.

That will most definitely work, and quite well. What are the details to ordering some? I would be in for 8 of those. Please let us know what you find out from the seller.
