Hi,
looking to build a reasonably inexpensive pair of active monitors for my home studio, and most of the comercial monitors i've seen have all had the amps built into the enclosure, and since floor/rack space are at a premium I was thinking of doing this myself but am, at this point, unsure of how to proceed. Any suggestions? Are there any safety concerns? would you need shielded drivers do avoid any interference etc? My plan so far was to massacre an old pc enclosure that I have and build an 'enclosure within an enclosure' then mount the ucd's to some heatsinks that would stick out the back of the speaker enclosure...Not sure if that would work. Thinking of using 2 ucd 180's per side mostly because of how cool they run comparatively. As a more economical alternative would gainclones work?? I know both would be small enough, just worried about heat/safety etc. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Tristan
