silicon fume damage to drivers

I have read that using silicon sealer in loudspeaker cabinets can damage the drivers. Is this true? How serious can this be?
I used a very small amount to make an airtight seal around my tweeter and midwoofer, also on the back plate of the cabinet.
I am worried that I might have slipped up.
Any ideas.

If it was just to seal between two surfaces and just a small amount, you are probably OK. It's when you go all round a box inside to bead off all the edges that is the problem because the sealent gases off into the box.

Acrylic sealer is a better choice for several reasons, - one being it adheres much better to wood, chipboard, MDf etc.etc.
Silicon does a better job on glass ceramics and the likes- there are also various silicon products-- the acetic acid based versions are the ones to be avoided here.
