Default Planning a new system

For many more years than I care to reveal, I have not updated my system. It has been a triamped setup with Hartley 24's in 20 cu ft enclosures and Ionovac tweeters with various speakers used in the middle. The middle died and the Hartley enclosures are just too huge. I have just gotten a Marchland 4 way crossover to replace the old Sony crossover and a temporary pair of Polk RT6i's for the midrange. The thing actually is sounding good again. The Polks will eventually become rear speakers and the two Hartley boxes just may have to go into the garage. I do like the idea (nor does my wife) of cutting a hole in the floor to mount one of the Hartleys as a sub woofer.

So here is what I am planning:
Woofers: Dayton RSS390HF-4 15" in 8 -10 cu. ft. vented enclosures - xover 200 Hz
Lower mid: Eton 5-880/25 Hex in a small vented enclosure -xover 1-1.5 kHz
Upper mid/tweeter: Acuton C44-8 (2" ceramic) -xover 6 KHz
Super tweeter: Ionovac

I have used WinISD to help select drivers and enclosures.

I will try to mount these as close together as possible vertically and phase aligned. Doing that with the Ionovac will be difficult as it has vertically elongated horn mouth.

The crossover slopes will likely be 24 or 48 dB/octave.

I will do my own woodworking, and even though I have made a few enclosures, I am no carpenter. If I make it to actual construction I will post an update. Any comments would be appreciated.

What's the benefit in venting the low mid enclosure?

For the Eton 7" F3 (-3 dB) in a closed box is about 82 Hz and flat to about 150 Hz. In a vented box it's 55 Hz and 80 Hz. With a 200 Hz @ 24 or 48 dB crossover I could use a closed box. With a vented box I will have more flexibility to experiment with a lower crossover. However the Eton handles 60 watts full range and it may be limiting with a lower crossover. I have emailed Eton for data on power handling above 200 Hz. The system is modular and I will be able to switch out drivers.
