Going to build the above speakers from plans but am undecided on which tweeters/compression drivers to use?
APT50 http://www.bluearan.co.uk/menu/index.php?id=EMIAPT50 or ASD1 http://www.bluearan.co.uk/menu/index.php?id=EMIASD1001 can anybody give any experience? |

APT50 is the right driver. See photo (top right).

I would trust APT50 as shown in the 10.1 kit compliment photo. Maybe they are close with the other one I dont know. But it looks like the crossover was designed around APT50.

I did a little search for you. HE10.1 (the well reviewed first one) used what it looks to me like Eminence APT50 as various pics of constructors show and had a 0.39mh coil in series before the tweeter. Although its plans may say ACD1.

Greets!
The ACD1 was a proprietary Adire driver that came with the HE10.1 Mk II kit, so unless they will whip up a pair for you I guess you're stuck with the Eminence APT50 stockers, which means the response won't be as smooth and I seriously doubt Adire's XO will work 'good enough'. http://web.archive.org/web/200410182...eFrameText.htm GM

Still a good chance with APT50 because this is the one shown in the construction pics before the proprietary one. Only use the first crossover plans.

Greets!
It's my understanding that even the Mk I used an Adire spec APT50 since it's strictly PA sounding as is (its HF response sounds like shreading sheetmetal to me unless XO'd for top octave 'fill'), ergo its XO may not be 'close enough' either, so I recommend clearing this up with Adire before buying any parts. Don't buy the APT50s and try to use the newest crossover.
I'm going to bring back the HE10.1 kit. I'm ordering a batch of the Mark 2 compression drivers and I'd be happy to sell you a pair when they are back in stock.
