I would like to design a crossover with speaker workshop.
But therefore I must measure the frequency and impedance response of my tweeter without a crossover. I'm a bit concern that het tweeter could be damaged because there is always a little DC voltage on the amplifier output. How is this mostly done? Is it better to put one big capacitor before the tweeter? |

Jonasa,
A small amount of DC <100mV (usually much less) from an amp in good shape is nothing to worry about. Check DC voltage first if you are worried.

Thanks, so worry about notting..
One more question: I'm reading the manual of speaker workshop for measuring frequency and impedance measurements. But there is notting inside about groundplane measurements. I was thinking that a grondplane measurement is best because you measure also the infuence of the baffle (speaker front). Isn't it better that I do a groundplane measurement intead of nearfield (no baffle infuence) and farfield (to much influence of walls and ground)?? It is for a crossover disign. |
