Hi everyone,
I'm working on a robotics project with small outdoor robots. I'm looking at different mechanisms to have the robots localize their neighboring robots. One idea would be to send an RF signal and a sound signal at the same time. The distance between two robots can then be determined based on the time between the reception of the RF signal and the sound signal. Enough blabla, I'm a complete newbee in loudspeakers/audio and I would like to know if it is possible to find a lightweight (<300g) speaker that can be used to send sound 100 meters away in an omni-directional fashion? I'd be happy if you could just give me a starting point. Thanks for any help, sorry if this is seriously naïve. s_lapetite |

I have no idea where you'd find one or how big (small?) they are made, but it sounds like you want a horn like many towns use for their noon siren. They are usually omi directional, and they can produce very high SPL (I can here the town whistle 3.5 miles away from town).

If I were you I will use some ultrasonic transducer like this :
http://www.conrad.fr/webapp/wcs/stor...egory_rn=19020 I don't know what's the angular dispersion of this but you can use 4 or more to have 360° dispersion. |
