Had a pair of BA A60 cabinets lying around that i thought I'd reuse. Having just received my Jasper jig I was anxious to see how well it worked. Well it worked great.
,,but you still have to know what you're doing and pay attention otherwise the mistakes just come quicker. Also I discovered that BA had skimped and used 1/2 mdf on the sides (my new baffle) instead of the 3/4" everywhere else. Made me feel a little better. Oh well into the heap it goes. |

Those look like they're made out of particle board, not MDF. I made the same mistake when building a miniture open baffle HiVi B3s system. They still sounded great, but I couldn't stand the asymetry, so I scrapped the project.

This same speaker came with one of those $.99 x-over/spkr. terminal assemblies so I'm not surprised about the skimping. It's amazing what crap they sold us years ago and passed them off as practically hi-end stuff. Must have been all profit. On Boston Acoustics' behalf though I must say their AVR7120 receiver is incredible. Picked one up from Onecall 2 weeks ago when they had them on sale for $999 ($2000 off retail). Btw, the cabinet was .54cf and I'm using Seas 7" H1224 and 27TBFC/G. Happened to find that John Krudke (Zaph) has a project on his site using these same drivers so I'm using his design to go forward. |
