I am building Seas L18 / Seas 27TBFCG ZAPH AUDIO speakers " http://www.zaphaudio.com/audio-speaker17.html " and need to flush mount both of the drivers. How do I do this do I use a router? Any advice is greatly appreciated. This is my second pair of speakers I am trying to build lets just say I am really green when it comes to wood working.
Thanks Robert |

You need a router, a bottom cut (plunge capable) bit and a circle jig.

Hi,
if you dont have a router, add a layer to your baffle with a cutouts for the tweeter and bass units. If the depth is too much for the tweeter bevel its hole at ~ 30 degrees, or alternatively do not fully flush mount the bass unit, see : http://www.zaphaudio.com/mtg-surface.html Where he sort of contradicts what is said in the L18 design. (Tweeters must be flush mounted, but not necessarily bass units) |

Have a look at Patman's pages here, in his Home theatre/DIY section:
http://www.io.com/~patman/ He has literally hundreds of step by-step-pics of speaker construction and flush mounting drivers with his router. BTW you can DIY a router circle-jig by bolting a bit of mdf to the router with a nail in it - easy! |
