Default Ok, subwoofer.. DONE! NOW onto the speakers!

Hey guys, I just sold off my old stereo gear, and im finally starting my new DIY system if been itching to do for only.. um.. FOREVER!

Anyways.. I just completed my 122 litre sealed tempest. Now im gonna be ording the parts to build the fronts in my HT/Music system.

I guess im looking for sudgestions.
Heres my Criteria:

1) under or around 200$ canadian.

2) needs to play comfortable at mid-high volumes, nothing to loud, I still have the Vegas when I really wanna rock the house.

3) Must sound better then the vegas lol (theyre loud SOB but they dont sound to great

Ill mostly be using them for music, mostly acustic rocky type stuff and techno.

Ive been thinking the kit41 or Fr125 because ive great things and they both are under 200$

Ive also looked at johns silver flute design

Eventually these speakers will move to the rear in my HT, once money starts comming in and i can add more speakers. Unless there really phenominal and I decide to just make 3 more of the same speaker to flesh out the HT.

Anyways, Input would be apreciated
Thanks

With that budget you might want to consider a very simple approach like one of these two drivers either open baffle or in the case of the pioneer a small sealed box would work also.

Pioneer Fullrange

or

Goldwood Fullrange

The pioneer should be very nice OB but would have somewhat subdued midbass. A small (1.4 ft^3) sealed box would give you a fuller midbass that might be very nice for pop and rock. It would work ported also but given that you have a sub already I don't see any point in going with the larger box and more complicated construction for your application.

The goldwood has a high enough Q that OB is the only really reasonable choice (not that there is anything wrong with that).

If I were in your shoes I would go for the pioneer just because I would be more comfortable with their construction quality. Either one is cheap enough that you would have enough mony in your budget to make a nice set of baffles or cabinets with enough left for helper tweeters if that proved necessary. You might even have enough money that you could stretch the budget enough to make matching rear channel units.

by avoiding the crossover issues you save money and possible mistakes as well. If you do a helper tweeter a simple inline capacitor is all you should need.

How about a pair of full-rangers with Audio nirvana 6,5":ers?

Hi,

i'd punt for this :

http://www.zaphaudio.com/audio-speaker19.html

over the silver flute design, get your bits from solen canada.

I'd also plan on adding another as a centre ?
+ the flutes rear (sealed / inverted drivers) ?

Or start off with the flutes then move them
to them to the rear as you have suggested.

(note : with a TV the flutes can't be used as a centre)

Do you think the flutes or those hivi's would outgun the Fr125s for loudness ? or SQ ?

Hi,

You'll never get a sensible answer to this question.
Just a load of people contradicting each other.

You can't go wrong with the flutes or hivi's, Zaph has
done all the hard work for you, all you do is build them.
They are the only sensible painless route.

Sticking full range drivers in boxes or open baffles and
hoping for the best it not what you need if you simply
want to build something that works, and works well.
