hi, i'm wandering, what is the lowest xover point for this tweeter on 6db, 12db, ,18db, 24db
I'm pairing this tweeter with peerless car CDC woofer (830513) I use this for Car Audio n using active xover. The tweeters are at the dashboard, and the woofer in the door panel, the distance between tweeter and woofer is about 1m. Thanks for your help |

I would recommend 2KHz at 24dB/8ve.

Hi,
Zaphaudio crosses this over at 1.7kHz 2nd order electrical and states it can handle this easily. You could go a little lower if you are using 4th order electrical slopes. |

is it safe to cross this tweeter at 1.7kHz 2nd order?
i'm using pioneer P80RS (Premier P880 in europe) head unit, there is choice for 1.6kHz i've never tried it, cause i'm afraid it's too low and may damage the tweeters. |

It should be fine with a 1.6khz active crossover, unless your feeding massive levels into it. quotes from Zaphaudio : Large MTM's need a tweeter with high power handling, low Fs and low distortion in the range of 1500 Hz and up. Not a whole lot of tweeters can claim that, particularly in the $30 range, but the Seas 27TDFC is up to the challenge. Take these distortion results with a grain of salt. They are really only of value when compared to other drivers measured with my system. But I can tell you that these drivers are very low distortion in the critical midrange, with the 27TDFC having some serious low frequency balls. |

how low can I cut the freq at 6db / octave? without damaging the tweeters?

I've run the 27TTFC at 3000Hz in a 1st order without any problems and the 27TDFC should be able to go lower as they are a tough and have a lower Fs.
If you're stupid with the volume control, then it's game over but I've never blown a tweeter using a 1st order.

27TDFC and 27 TFFC are built similarly. 3k is a great alteration from 1k7. I think 1k7 LR4 could be safer than 3k BW1, in case of TDFC.

As far as I know, its very hard to kill a TDFC, I ran a couple of experiments seeing how much I could reduce the transient crashes if I could better balance crossover power supply loading, the answer was no, but the tweeter survived quite happily.
When I was first playing with the tweeter long ago I tried several crossover points, but settled on 2000 as the lowest I was willing at 24dB, as far as sound goes. However, if you do get a pair of these, run them in for a bit as they sound less bright after a little playing. |
