Default pro-sound musings...

I'm VERY tempted to attempt to hack together some new speaks for The Bunker. This long weekend, I'm somewhat messing with a pair of NSB/Neo line arrays, and may actually have them completed before Labor Day...

You know, it takes the same time to cut a 4" hole as it does to cut a 15" hole?

Anywho, I've been thinking toward pro-sound drivers... Something on the order of the Eminence alpha 6 or Beta 8 mids (probably two, MTM), a horn tweeter (leaning toward blowing about $50 each on Seleniums...), filling in something of the low end with 12-15" drivers...

Speaker height isn't a problem, at least for the mains - if I can flank the screen about halfway up, I'm happy. I'm thinking that I can get away with an MTM each for the surrounds, so that should be cool too... It's the mains that are really giving me fits. I can figure the high end and mids - it's figuring out what to use for something that's relatively cost effective, and will actually play low enough, that's the rub...

Then again, I've got a friend with a band who calls a pair of twin 15s "mids." They use a pair of dual Peavey Lowrider 18s for their low end... And actually, their setup doesn't sound half bad, altho they're crossing their tweets a bit high...
