i'm about to build a pair of loudspeakers on 3 way system.
45 Liters for the separate bass cab. i have an 70 liters 2x 12'' woofers... and that is a LOT of bass. is these speakers too much ? i calculated it on winISD and i'm gonna uze skytronic drivers. 40 liters would be enough right ? the bass driver is a kevlar cone 8'' 250W rms 85.5dB

Is there a particular reason you want to go 3-way and not 2-way with the subs.

anyway... i uze the sub as an auxiliary thing. i prefer the speakers making some bass and the sub making some bass to complement the sound spectrum. to me it looks like the sound is more uniform and spacial like that... 2-way i uze for surround. i like 3-way either cos the mids never jam os sound less clear when the bass comes up :P these speakers in some days just might be pluged without the sub. i'm calculating the box for 30 liters and when it comes to the response is still good enough. i dont like vented boxes. even my sub is a band-pass one.

Sorry for the confusion. Now I understand where you are going with this. The Skytronic 8” woofer looks ok down to 25L sealed (f3 ~50Hz). This should integrate well with the subs.

If you want something that sounds half decent, this is the best advice I can give:
Buy a copy of "The Loudspeaker Design Cookbook" by Vance Dickason. And/or get a kit or build an existing and well documented design. Anything else at this point looks like a waste of money to me. |

i'm kind of low on the budget. wonder why i'm looking up in skytronic woofers ? they are not so bad anyway... i guess sealed box cant be worse than what i have... a pair of pioneer really old speakers. i'm good with wood and i have a friend that cuts it for me. perfectli like i want it. afer that is just glue and screws. i will try to know more things ons speakers... bue o do know that i don't like vented speakers :P
