Default Car audio x-fer in the home 4 to 8 ohm curves

Hello i was just wondering. i picked up a set of crossovers on ebay for 2.99. They are from the Polk audio EX component series.from the EX2560 model line.
the polk website states :
Corrosion-proof gold plated crossover terminals
Second order Butterworth crossover filters
The crossover point i found online is 4K
inside is a elytone 100V 8µF ±10% and a wrapped coil that i cant ID.

The main thing i was wondering is how these will react if i use them in a HT environment running 8ohms insteed of 4ohms.
will the frequency point change? In what direction? the order wont change im sure.
I'm no electronic expert so if there is any other advice you can offer for using car audio electronics in home use it would be nice.

for 3$ I know i cant build one myself. I'm hopping to use these in a viech horn loaded set up one day.
thanks again. anything you can add would be great. or a link to some good reading :-)!

quick bump.. i see a few people have looked at this.. can anyone answer my Question.
Does changing the impedence through a cross over effect the cross over points? and if so how.. thank you very much..

Just a new guy trying to gleam some knowlage from more experienced people.

Don't know about anyone else, but I've used car crossovers before with success, BUT I used 4ohm drivers. Besides being 4ohm, I don't know of any other inherent difference in the crossover itself.

Using a 4ohm xover will change the xover point. Can't remember if it could double or half it, but it's not a small change from what I remember. If a tweeter gets high passed to low, you could send frequencies it can't handle.

There are some drivers that come in both 4 and 8 ohm versions of the same driver. You could find 4ohm drivers for your application.

Then just make sure that your amps can handle a 4 ohm load.

Using higher impedance speakers will raise the crossover point. Check out the passive crossover charts at www.the12volt.com for a quick reference.

thanks for the input guys.. wow there is alot of info on that page.. seems a bit overwealming but i will start.
my plan is to use a 8 ohm tweeter and a pair of 4 ohm 5.25's or 6.5's in series for a 8 ohm load through the cross over and amp. the amp can handle 4 ohms EASY. but i really dont want to run 8 ohm tweet to 4 ohm mids. and im already sold on my ribbon tweeter. just hoping i can do something with these crossovers. i mean a ready to go set for 3$ was to good to pass up.

thanks again will keep you posted on the duel mid viech setup.
